Dr Amber Wheeler, WRFFC Chair

Every year, we’re amazed by the range of session proposals submitted to the Wales Real Food and Farming Conference, and this year is no exception. After many hours reading applications, discussions, bringing complementary sessions and speakers together and plenty of reshuffling, we’re delighted to share a first look at this year’s programme.

In the programme, you’ll find the session titles for each day, giving an idea of what’s on each day. The full programme, with complete session details, will follow in the next few weeks.

This year’s theme is Growing Diversity and Diversification in Welsh Food and Farming, and we’ll be gathering at the beautiful National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire. The conference will take place across different parts of the Garden, with registration, stands and food all hosted in the iconic Great Glasshouse.

We’re thrilled that Adam Jones, better known as Adam yn yr Ardd, will open the conference, and that Nerys Evans, Deputy Minister for Public and Preventative Health, will close it.

As chair of the WRFFC, I’m excited by the variety of sessions and the wonderful speakers joining us this year. Alongside talks and discussions, the programme includes plenty of hands-on and creative sessions, as well as tours of the Garden led by its knowledgeable staff.

We’re proud that lunch is included in the ticket price, made with produce from the Garden itself and from local suppliers.

On Wednesday evening, the conference dinner will be held at Cegin Hedyn in Carmarthen, a brilliant community kitchen doing important work. Places will be limited, and tickets go on sale later in October.
