The Wales Real Food and Farming Conference (WRFFC) returns for its seventh year with an exciting new venue and partnership. The 2025 event will take place at Bridgend College’s Pencoed Campus in South Wales, from 18–20 November 2025.

For the first time, the Wales Real Food and Farming Conference (WRFFC) is joining forces with Food Sense Wales to host a collaborative event that brings together two key gatherings: the annual WRFFC conference and Food Sense Wales’s annual Food in Communities event. The theme for this year reflects this partnership: Communities, Food and Farming: Working Together.

Session ideas exploring this theme are warmly welcomed from individuals and organisations, and there’s still time to submit ideas by 20 July 2025.

Founded in 2019, WRFFC is an independent platform for exploring sustainable food and farming in Wales. It brings together farmers, food businesses, environmentalists, public health professionals, educators, and social justice advocates to share knowledge, spark ideas, and shape the future of a resilient and just food system.

The 2025 conference will span two core days of sessions on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th November, followed byfarm visits on Thursday 20th November, organised in partnership with Farming Connect Horticulture.

The conference is organised by a cross-sector team of professionals committed to building a better food future for Wales.

Dr Amber Wheeler, Chair of the WRFFC organising team, said:

“We’re delighted to bring the conference to South Wales for the first time. Bridgend College’s Pencoed Campus offers outstanding facilities, and we’re especially excited to engage with students and staff. Their active focus on sustainability and strong agricultural and horticultural programmes make it an ideal setting for this year’s event. We’ve already received some brilliant proposals, but there’s still time to submit session ideas before the 20th of July. Partnering with Food Sense Wales this year and incorporating the Food in Communities Conference brings new energy and reach to the event—we can’t wait to see the conversations and collaborations that emerge.”

Food Sense Wales sees this event as an opportunity to bring together Wales’ network of Food Partnerships and to engage with the wider agricultural community.  Pearl Costello, Sustainable Food Places Manager at Food Sense Wales said:

“Food Sense Wales is really excited to be partnering with the Wales Real Food and Farming Conference this year. This joint event offers a timely opportunity to bring together food partnerships, communities, and farming voices from across Wales following the launch of Welsh Government’s Community Food Strategy earlier this year.  The conference will provide a space for collaboration, knowledge exchange and for sharing perspectives across the food and farming sectors, with the collective aim of strengthening local food systems and building a fairer, healthier, and more resilient food future for everyone.”
